On trend design inspiration

Whether you are looking to redecorate your whole home or you’re thinking of making a few changes to freshen things up, exploring the latest interior design trends can be a great starting place for inspiration.

Just as fashion trends are always moving and shifting, the same can be said for home décor. A search online or a flick through an interiors magazine can certainly help to set you on the right path. But if you are finding it all a little baffling, we are happy to help you navigate what’s currently in vogue to create a look that you love and that will stand the test of time.

Not only do we have a showroom full of the latest styles and access to a huge range of resources to build your dream interior, we also have a wealth of knowledge and expertise which we are delighted to share with you.

One of the looks we love at the moment is the use of bold wallpaper to create standout feature walls.

The stripe wallpaper in the bedroom pictured here is only used behind the bed with a plain colour paint elsewhere.  A plain blue or white roman blind would suit this scheme, perhaps trimmed with a playful pompom edge.  Although we love a stripe, any more than this would overwhelm, as would a bold pattern.  I also like the natural textures used on this bed which would team perfectly with a warm coloured carpet and a knitted throw.

When it comes to colour, dark green is the new navy, and we are currently seeing it in all the new collections. I love this small self-pattern called Eden from Sandberg – a Swedish company with the royal warrant exclusive to Dean & Co  which contrasts perfectly with the white surface and industrial lamp in this kitchen.  Scandi styles are still incredibly popular, the stylish design seems effortless somehow.

Bold pattern, when used in moderation, can add a real touch of drama to your home, and there are so many different designs to choose from! These designs from our Swedish brand Sandberg are among my current favourites.  Coupling exquisite quality with a real attention to detail, each pattern comes in three or four colourways, giving you the freedom to create a look you love. The black and white stripe is both elegant and on trend and would look stunning in a hallway.

If you are in search of a timeless look that will never go out of fashion, Nordic inspired design is the answer. Not only is it versatile it’s simple enough to work with most styles of furniture.

Don’t feel you have to stick to light tones for curtain fabric and wallpaper when taking inspiration from the Nordic look. Dark tones can work equally well when teamed with a neutral palette and natural woods. Exploring the different colourways on offer can completely change the mood of a room, too. For example Pine Gray colourway, also from Sandberg, creates a serene space. Switch this out for the black colourway, (below) to create an intimate and cosy feel which would work well for TV rooms and snugs.
