Which motorised option will suit you?

There are a number of different systems available that can be operated via your phone, switches or batteries.

Do you have Alexa or Google? Your home system on there can be synced up to control your motorised blinds and curtains.

(Our systems are compatible with Somfy, Tahoma and Connexoon, Nest, Google, Alexa)

Take a look at the smoothness of this wonderful curtain track here below. It’s suitable for pinch pleat or wave pleat curtains:

Incredibly smooth automated curtains

This is the Glydea curtain track from Somfy. It can be motorised using battery or mains power.

The track can be controlled using a wireless wall switch, or a remote control with or without a timer and also via the Somfy hubs  – Connexoon or Tahoma (operated via your smartphone).

It’s suitable for our standard pinch pleat curtains and also available with the Silent Gliss WAVE pleat system.

The GlydeaTM electric curtain track system meets the requirements of the most prestigious projects. Motorised curtains are a common feature in high end projects such as high-quality hotels, luxury homes as well as meeting and conference venues.

Control your curtains and blinds via your smartphone

Somfy Smartphone App

Control your blinds and curtains with the Connexoon app – This is a box which is connected to your internet router.  Your blinds are then controllable via the connexoon app on your smart phone.

This is very easy to set up and control whilst you are away on holiday or out at work during the day.

It is also compatible with Alexa via the scenarios function on the Alexa app.  You create scenarios e.g. ‘leave home’, ‘sun protection’, ‘privacy’ and the app moves the blinds and curtains to your preferred setting.

Somfy/Connexoon App

Control your blinds and curtains with the Tahoma app – This is a home hub which links to your home via the Tahoma app and your wireless router. It has more scope and functions than the Connexoon.  It is also compatible with many of the ‘home robots’ eg. Alexa and Google Assistant.

Not into apps and smartphones? Go for battery operated instead

Battery operation is the most cost effective and least intrusive option. A  rechargeable lithium-ion battery has a very satisfactory life span.

Battery operated blinds can be installed in every room of the house and controlled via wireless wall switch or remote control giving you complete control over your security and privacy.

You can even control the tilt on venetian blinds using the MY switch or set your preferred height.

With integrated motors, all blinds can be mains-powered either by plug or hard wired if there is a nearby connection.

Already got an automated system?

For those homes with an existing home automation system such as Lutron, Control4 and Z-WAVE, we would recommend using the Silent Gliss autoglide curtain tracks, which has been designed to work seamlessly with these systems.

This is available with the Silent Gliss 50mm diameter Metropole profile to create a stylish finish.

Silent Gliss also offers a range of motorised blind systems for roman blinds and rollers.

Uninterrupted views with blackout blinds

We recently installed 10 large blackout roller blinds to a newly built house in Alresford, Essex.

All blinds were controlled via the client’s Z-Wave home automation system and installed using a recess profile we supplied to Rose builders so that the blinds could fully retract into the ceiling to allow for an uninterrupted view of the River Colne.
