Alexa, close the curtains!
Whether you regularly work away from home, are heading off on holiday or have hard to reach windows, motorised blinds and curtains are a quick to fit option which will make your life easier.
And did you know pretty much all our blinds - pleated, roller, wooden venetian, roman, vision blinds, vertical sloping and straight – and curtains can be motorised allowing you to open and close them at the touch of a button?
The system we use can also link to your home hub, so just ask 'Alexa, close the curtains!' and it's job done!

Curtains and blinds open automatically
Chris, our expert fitter, said: "In the main we use Somfy, the market leader in affordable motorisation solutions. Catering for both curtains and blinds, it means you can operate them all with the same remote.
"If you are nervous of new technology, don't worry. We will fit and programme your motorised system for you and show you how to use it. It’s quite straightforward and after we leave if you have any questions, just get in touch."
It's easy to set a timer so your curtains and blinds open automatically, which is something customers love particularly if they split their time between two homes or are going on holiday as it allows your property to still look lived in.

Helpful if you have mobility issues
Timers are also great if you like your blinds to open at a certain time each morning so you can wake to the daylight, and there are options which recognise sunset, dawn or dusk, too.
Chris continued: "Although timers are really useful, lots of our customers just like the ease of being able to open all their curtains and blinds at the same time at the touch of a button. If you have five blinds in five different rooms, you can operate them all at the same time from one remote.
"This is particularly helpful if you have mobility issues and for hard-to-reach windows."
"Conservatories can be hot and bright during the summer months so the motorised system can use light sensors to ensure blinds are closed to create shade."

There are no safety issues with cords
Motorised blinds are a great option for children's rooms too, as there are no safety issues with cords plus you can programme when they open and close.
Although the Somfy motorised system can be wired, most people opt for the rechargeable lithium battery option. You just need to have a plug point within 3 metres of the window and use a USBC cable or your mobile phone charger to charge it.
Chris added: "The batteries last a long time and only need infrequent charging. You can still use the battery-operated system for sky lights and other hard to reach windows as they can include a built-in solar panel, so you don't need to plug in to recharge

We are Somfy specialists, and more
"Although we are a Somfy specialist, we do use other brands if a project demands it, for example, if you have a large group of blinds, perhaps for a conservatory roof. Our job is to find the best solution for you, and we will be happy to offer our advice and expertise.
